When the weather outside is frightful, it's the perfect time for this hot spiced apple toddy! It's one of our favorite drinks during the holidays. And when you make it, you'll understand why.

4 cups apple juice or cider (32 ounces)
2 teaspoons brown sugar
1" knob of ginger, skinned
2 cinnamon sticks
4 cloves
1-star anise seed pod
1 cup whiskey*

In a medium-sized saucepan, bring the apple juice, sugar, and spices to a low simmer.

Remove from the heat and let stand for 10 to 15 minutes.

Divide the whiskey among 4 coffee cups/mugs. Top each mug off with the hot spiced apple juice.

Garnish with cinnamon sticks, apple and orange slices, and star anise.

Cheers!

*Adults only - Must be 21 or older! - (Hint: Omit the whiskey for a kid-friendly version).
