Thank you for your comment. One large clove of garlic might not be enough for some. As a garlic lover, I understand entirely. Feel free to add as much garlic to this dish as necessary to reach your desired level of garlicky deliciousness. :)
If you plan to use a frozen pre-cooked crumble, then no. Simply simmer it in the sauce for 5 minutes and bake it as instructed. However, if you choose a raw form of plant meat, such as Impossible burger, Beyond Beef, or other like-product (one that you could form into a burger patty and cook on the stovetop), then you will need to cook it before adding it to the sauce.
